Fargo Davies completed the 2011 season undefeated with a resounded win at the 2011 State Championships, held at Edgewood Golf Course in Fargo. Davies used it's strong balance throughout i's lineup to secure a a convincing 32-stroke victory. The EDC finished 1-2-3 as Red River and Fargo North also found themselves going home with some state hardware. The Eagles will be the odds-on favorites to repeat in 2012 as they return all but one from a state championship team.

JoDee Wheeler capped a steady season with her eighth win of the season, this one the most important as she goes home with the 2012 state championship. Wheeler was the only contender to put two rounds in the 70's as her 75-77 152 total was 7-shots better than runner-up, Davies sophomore Kathleen Marsh. Wheeler completed the "grand slam" of majors in high school golf, winning the East-West Classic, the East Region Championship, and the 2011 State Championship.

2011 State Tournament Results

After a clean sweep during the regular season, the Century Patriots found themselves in a battle to retain their West Region crown. By the thinnest of margins, one-stroke, the Patriots prevailed 332-333 over Dickinson. The Patriots rode the hot hands of team scoring leader Alex Leidholm whose 79 matched Dickinson ace Rachel Jahner. Century's team depth, a strength all season, was just strong enough to hold off a solid showing by the Midgets. On the individual side, Minot's 1-2 punch of Haili Dichscherere and Senior Athlete of the Year Danielle Foster led the way. Duchscherer fired a career best 74 on her way to her first individual title. Foster's 78 led the rest of the pack trying to chase Duchscherer.

West Region Results

Fargo Davies turned a preview of the state tournament at Edgewood into it's own victory tour as they dominated the East Region Tournament Monday in Fargo. Davies not only has depth, it has several of the top golfers in the region. The Eagles offset an off day by Allyson Meyer with a solid performance by Madison Gemar as Davies put three golfers in the top five spots. JoDee Wheeler continued to roll as she picked up her 7th win of the season. But as it has been all season, she has significant competition heading into state. Along with the top three performers from Davies, Wheeler withstood a charge from Fargo North's Annie Twells.

East Region Tournament

Fargo Davies rode a balanced attack to capture it's first ever Lifetime Eye Care & Associates East-West Classic. The Eagles were led by 8th grader Jennifer Marsh, who's 81 (T4) was one of four Davies' players to post scores between 81 & 83. Davies team score of 328 was five better than GF Red River's 333. The Roughriders were led by EWC Medalist JoDee Wheeler. Wheeler carded a 75 en route to her second straight victory in the young season. Minot's Danielle Foster and North's Annie Twells were each two shots back.
