Conventions are the summit of the Junior Classical League. They are an opportunity to get reaquainted with old friends and meet new ones. They are a chance to test one's knowledge of the Classical world in certamen and written tests. And they are a chance to have fun. Those who haven't gone to nationals don't realize how great the road trip and side stops are. It's incredible how close everyone can get. At the beginning of our trip to Oklahoma City, very few people knew each other. At the end, it was as if we were a family. A great big JCL family. State conventions are almost as good, but on a much smaller scale. Concordia is always fun, too. Does anyone sleep at all when we spend the night within their dorms? Even students that live in Fargo stay overnight in the dorms so they don't miss anything. 2001 National JCL ConventionLouisiana, here we come! Plane, train, or automobile, we'll find a way to get there. The convention is scheduled for mid-August at Tulane University, in New Orleans. 2001 North Dakota State JCL ConventionWhat a convention it was! Lots of chaos, but that just made it even more fun. There hasn't ever been a convention like it, and hopefully there never will be again. Highlights include the first ND Romecoming Pageant and special guest Matt Wharton, from Colorado. 2001 ND JCL Fall ForumThis is another North Dakota first, a meeting between all of the local chapter officers throughout the state. It has proven to be an invaluable kickstart to communicating and teamwork among the different delegations 2000 National JCL ConventionStormin' Norman in 2000 was a blast! It is impossible to sum it up, but we'll try in the dozen or so pages (complete with photos!) that we devote to that trip.
