NDACTE Young Educator Award

THE AWARD

The Young Educator Award is presented annually by the North Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education .  The award recognizes educators with five or less years of teaching.  One young educator is recognized in each vocational service area:  Agriculture Education; Business and Office Technology; Career Guidance; Equity Education; Family and Consumer Sciences, Marketing Education, Special Needs; Technology Education; and Trade, Industry, Technical and Health.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be nominated by a respective service area professional group

  • Must be a member of the Association for Career and Technical Education and the North Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education

  • Must be currently teaching in the service area

  • Must have taught no more than five years

  • Must be recommended by his/her local administrator

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Nominated by a fellow educator in Technology Education or Administration

  2. Nomination must be submitted by April 15th

  3. Candidate must have a recommendation from Local Administrator

  4. Review committee consists of the following:
        Most recent recipient of the award
        State Supervisor
        One member-at-large

  5. Portfolios of each candidate sent to review committee members

  6. Each committee member ranks candidates and returns ratings to the State Supervisor

  7. A conference call is made to review rating results

  8. School Administrator of award-winning candidate is informed so that arrangements can be made to have the candidate at the opening session of the All-Service Vocational Conference

  9. News release is prepared by the North Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education for distribution to the media statewide and recipient's local paper
